How we plan a France trip
We start with how much moving you want to do. Two bases in nine nights makes a relaxed holiday; four makes a logistics exercise. From there we build the route, name the hotels, and price the whole thing once — flights, rooms, transfers, entries and insurance in a single costing.
Then we take on the parts that go wrong quietly: the visa file and its timing, the bookings that sell out months ahead, the food you will want near your hotel, and a plan B for the days that depend on weather.
Trip facts
Where people go, and why
Paris, properly
Four nights minimum. Pre-booked slots for the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, and one day with nothing planned at all.
Paris and the Riviera
Nice, Antibes and Monaco, three hours by TGV. Two very different holidays in one trip.
Paris and London
Eurostar in the middle, two capitals in ten nights. Needs both a Schengen and a UK visa, which we handle together.
The Loire and Normandy
Chateaux, D-Day beaches and small towns, by car with a driver or self-drive.
When to go
There is rarely one right month. There is a right month for the trip you want.
Best all round
Long days, gardens at their peak, and the coast before the August crowds.
Peak
Hot, busy and expensive, and much of Paris closes for the holidays. Fine for the coast, less so for the cities.
Quiet and warm
Our favourite window: harvest in the vineyards, warm afternoons, half the queues.
City season
Museums without lines, Christmas markets in Alsace, and the best hotel rates of the year.
